I am a big fan of making Christmas gifts wherever possible, last year these Space Invaders inspired Christmas tree ornaments were one of the most popular things I made. If was a fun project, easy to execute.

So I’m releasing the files out into the wild, I hope that you all make bit more and maybe buy a little less.

You’ll notice there done in the retro pixel 8-bit style, everyone seems to like them.

Visit my blog post:

If you do not have a laser cutter you can also donate and get a set in a nice gift envelope:

1.) Download and cut ornaments
2.) Use provided holes to attach some sort of hanging device, like string, ribbon, suction cup.
3.) Hang and enjoy the space invasion.

Space Invaders v2.ai
Space Invaders v2.dxf
outlines only not really efficiently spaced, do not include hanging holes, for reference only

Space Invaders 8up.ai
Space Invaders 8up.dxf
This is the cut sheet I use with my laser, there are 8 sets of characters in a 8x8in space, includes hanging holes

Seeing as this was featured and all, an stl would be fantastic...

Seriously.. 5 years later and no STL file?

Do you by any chance know if i can convert the files provided into some STLs? For printing on a makerbot?

Gonna hang these from the ceiling in my room :D

Sounds like fun, don't forget to post a picture!

Newly featured for the 2011 season, I am making more of these this year!

spaceinvadersv2 files dont have holes to hang from the 8 up file does have the holes

Good point, I added some notes in the description.
