I just upgraded to a Nexus 4 so needed to upgrade my car mount as well. As well as the snap-fit phone holder, I added a customizable air-vent mount. These use the same M3 attachments as my Galaxy S car holder, so the phone holder / mount points are interchangeable with those (e.g. if you wanted to use the air vent mount with the snap-fit Galaxy S holder). Current source for this lives at https://cubehero.com/physibles/Lenbok/Nexus4_Car_Mount

Print out the two parts of the snap-fit phone holder and glue them together. The nexus4-main.stl has a cutout for a USB charge plug, so you will need to print it with support.

You'll also need to print a piece that attaches to your car. The air vent mount here is unlikely to exactly fit your air vents, but it's customizable so you can take some measurements off the vent slats and make one that fits your vehicle. It has some optional built-in support structures that you can pull off once printed.

Bolt the phone holder to the mount with two M3 bolts.

While using this snap-fit mount, can you charge the phone? Or need i make a hole in the mount to plug in the charger?

Oh, I just realised this might be a vertical mount.. If it is, my bad..

Yeah, it is a vertical mount. I can probably make a horizontal version, although I have since moved on to a new one I've designed that embeds a WCP-300 Qi charger so I don't need to plug in a charger at all when I'm on the road.

I actually started modding your mount to fit a qi module. Have you published the new version? Would love to test it.

I have been using it for a while now, and have just uploaded it - but I'm putting my projects on cubehero these days as it has much better version control, so you'll have to get it from there. The project (with source) is at:

And the STL for the QI version of the Nexus4 mount:

I would love to see a horizontal-mount version!

I've made 2 so far in PLA. They fit absolutely perfectly but keep melting in my car!

Yeah, PLA is no good unless you live somewhere cold!! I did mine in ABS and it's holding up fine.

Should I glue the first (main) and the second part (sides) together?

Yep. I made them as two parts to give the best strength in the directions that need it.

ok thanks

ok thanks

Is there a scad-File for nexus4-sides.stl?

Customizer only likes one scad file, and the nexus 4 specific bits were in another file that was ugly, with clashing variable names etc I was too ashamed to upload it :-))
