That's how it was for me, too.

Took me a while to notice the magic behind it - the large gear has missing teeth around the stop.

Hahahaha! This is awesome! I saw an amazing presentation by the engineer / artist Arthur Ganson in 2006:


He showed a project called cory's yellow chair:

I'm a mechanical engineer and we talked briefly and he said he used a beaver tail stop in the chair project.

I shared the mechanism with the guy at http://www.mekanizmalar.com in 2009, and he animated it and added it to his awesome collection.

Now, 11 years later, I'm going to use your model to print one out!

The beaver tail mechanism is designed to have much less shock transmitted through the system at the pause than #211.

So it is.
I think that 211 is a cross between this and a geneva!
