Hi watsdesign, sorry just posted a similar one, hope you don't mind but I've posted as a derivitive of this, in truth the design has been going on for weeks.

No problems ! Mine is also inspired from several fan shroud ^^

How long have you been using it?
Had any problems with the X-carriage becoming soft due to the reduced cooling of the heat sink?

(I damaged my own hot end and while waiting for spares i ran it wrapped in toaster ni-chrome as a heater element, the radiated heat was enough to make the x-carriage loose its grip on the belt twice...)

I'm using it since few days only, but I don't think reusing the airflow will lower that much the effect of the heatsink.

I had a similar problem than you when using only a flat aluminium plate and a x-carriage with a tooth profile to hold the belt, during a hot day of summer http://reprap.org/wiki/FoldaRap_User_Manual#Other_possible_source_of_failure_:http://reprap.org/wiki/FoldaRa... (now with the zip-ties, and the real heatsink this problem is solved :) )
