Summary

This object performs exactly the same function as the original one. It has been modified in order to:

  1. The hole (pocket) on the extremes is bigger (1 mm), so that you do not have to sweet to put the bearings in place.
  2. The wall is thicker, so to have more robustness (I manage to break one of my original PLA ones... do not ask!!).
  3. A thicker wall also makes a difference if you are going to print it in ABS (the black one in the photo is made in ABS), because most of the seam gets inside the infill (that black line that you see), and the remaining does not affect the function at all (it rolls good!!).

If I would have to make a new one, I would use this design, though it consumes more filament. The gcode fie for ABS 230/90 is also included.

Some slicers (even versions of the same slicer) are pickier with the STL and others less. I can tell you that I sliced the STL that is in the "things files" with a version of slic3r (I run stable and git versions, so I could not tell which one I used).

The idea of making a spool that fits inside is very nice. However, if you buy a bigger spool, you will have to unspool the bought filament and spool it again into the custom made spool. You might want to consider buying filament directly in smaller spools (0,5 kg or less) so that the spool that comes with the filament can be fitted directly into the FAB and you do not have to unspool and respool the filament...

I got it to print @imarin. I needed to repair the .stl first for some reason and now it's printing fine. I also adjusted the gcode for my filament and bed temp. Thank you for this. I think I'm going to try to make a spool that will fitinside the FAB without the cover off.

That file is for ABS filament, if you use it for PLA you will burn the PLA plastic (230 vs 190 degrees Celsius).

Anyway, the FAB should move. I uploaded the file that I used to print in my fab. The file has gcode inside (if you open it you will see), so it is expected that it is executed by the FAB. I would shutdown the FAB, start it again, and try again.

If you have problems with the FAB you may want to open a discussion thread in the fabtotum forum...

Imarin I tried to make this on my FAB and it just sat there doing nothing. The print never started. I used your gcode file. Any suggestions?
