Create a jewelry or gift box, choose from hundreds of shapes. Customize the top with infinitely variable filigree designs. You may also print an insert to snap in behind the filigree to make it stand out.
This customizer script allows you to make an infinite variety of boxes. You can choose from heart shapes, Jewish stars, crosses, n-sided boxes, ovaloids, racetrack shapes, and rounded rectangular boxes (with a variable radius corner).
Then you can create a filigree pattern on top of your container. There are a number of variables that control the pattern generation, as well as multiple pattern generators. Be sure to play with the centering as well ( I personally like the sunburst effects.)
You may play with the variables to your heart's content. But when you have designed a container that you like you should do the following:
- Be sure that the container you have designed fits into your build volume for your printer. If not, reduce either the height or the size of the box until you can print it.
- Decide whether or not you want an insert in your box. I like to print the insert in a contrasting color to bring out the box top pattern.
- Print each individual part, the box body, the box top, and optionally the insert. This is controlled by the "customizer" part variable.
You may find that the top is not a tight fit into the body, or that the insert doesn't snap into the top. In that case you should tweak the print extrusion variables in "customizer". The parts may be sensitive to the size of your nozzle or extrusion size.
