Recently, our university network has become very unstable.
I developed a windows version of the modeling web service.
Please, visit http://facebook.com/lithopia for download and further updates.
After realized making things with 3D printers is a very attractive job, I wanted to contribute to this community as a programmer.
I built this web service with my graduate students so that you can design and 3D-print high quality cylinder lithophanes in an easy way.
We hope you enjoy this!
- The sample STL file was made with 768x180 resolution image for faster upload. For real printing, I recommend making your own lamp with 1024x240 or higher resolution images. Currently, system allows 1536x360 resolution maximum in a performance reason.
- Smoothing option smooths the printing pattern so that it can be printed without support. We used 5 in general.
Use web browser to open the web service at http://220.127.116.11/litho_client/index.html and drag-and-drop an image you want to carve on a cylinder. You may want to customize some parameters like cylinder radius, print thickness, etc.
