Summary

This is a building kit of the locomotive Rocket from 1829.
It is a model that you rarely see on the model railway. would be nice to have one in my garden railroad. Which I now have. www.utj.se
I have printed it on the Replicator 2X ABS.
I do not believe you need a model railway to print this model. It also works well to put on a shelf if you want. Or as a toy.
The model is 25cm long. model is painted with colors corresponding to the model. To see images of the original locomotive, look at the web / Stephenson's Rocket / Images.

Instructions

This model is designed as a construction kit.
I have used Acetone to glue the parts together.
One of the pictures shows which Stl file belongs to which part of the model.
File No.10 is the only one there I used suport
To assemble the movable parts. you need 4 small screws approximately 10mm long 2 mm
Bracing wires that go from the chimney and down, and the two in the front. Is 1,75mm filament thread.
Pieces to be fitted into each other may be needed sanded with a small file. some holes might be needed drilled

coal and water wagon

Glue the wheels to the axles. Use something that makes the wheels are perpendicular to the axis, as seen in the attached photos. Use tape to hold the wagon sides together while the wheel is put in place. Once these are in place pull together all the walls with tape. Finally, put a rubber band around it all. glue all surfaces that come in contact to each other

Have added a fixture for easier assembly of the wheels on the axles applies to coal cart.

Having trouble with item 6 & 7 the support does not seam to be there as it tries to print in mid air, all the rest of the files print ok so fat thanks for the rocket

This thing looks awesome!

Hi Hobby3D
I have designed the Rocket in scale 1:32 a Gauge 1.
So I have no files in H0 scale. If you want you can try to reduce all files with 37% in your print software. And see how it will be. it will become small anyway, depending on which machine you has the result will be different, good / not so good, maybe.
If you try, to please write down a comment

Ps. The risk is that some walls will be too thin or none at all.
Best wishes
Göran
UTJ train

hello ,
I can afford to ask if it is possible to download the same model train HO scale 1/87 ? I would be most grateful. :-D

thanks, see you soon

Have not seen any printed curves.
A variation is that you can use aluminum profile 3x10 mm, we use this in our garden railway.
see more at my website

http://www.utj.se/ny_sida_03%20plesisagning.htm
The downside is of course that it is not 3D printed

Are there any rail/sleepers you can recommend for a curved track that will fit this locomotive? We're looking to make a loop using straight track and half circles at both ends. Any help appreciated!

Awesome print, mine has so far been printing very well, train looks awesome and works great.
Keep on designing!

Thanks for that. I will try to do that.

Looking forward to see a picture of your locomotive copy.

Hi. Sorry to hear that. I have no problem with this. my files are stl format. g-Coden made of your slice programs so that's where it fails. I think, but we must wait and see if there are some more that have problems with this.
try to print the boiler from another side, the back if you now have printed the standing.
regards Goran.

when printing part number 3 it prints half the part then then bed lowers about 1/2 inch are wiggles around in the air like its printing for 2 or 3 min then says its done, its like layers are missing in the gcode

I finished making the engine. Looks good, Will print out the wagon next and make that. I printed one out from other person that set it up for a motor. My grand son is working on that one. Keep up the good work.
Thank you

Finished :) Thanks for sharing these files.

Great design, I will be trying to make my copy for Christmas!
What design software did you use, and would you be prepared to share the original designs so I can try to motorize it?
If possible, a format compatible with 123D would be great!

I appears that there is a right and a left side for the long side on the wagon, one being a mirror image of the other. The cutout on the rear side for the high short side part will be in the front on the right side and rear on the left side. Can you add that file to your list because I have no way of making a mirror. So far everything has printed great. Love this engine. Now I just need to figure out how to power it. Are the carriages coming in the future?

Sorry I missed this. have now downloaded a right and a left side.
As it would have been from the beginning. Will arrange for the carriage. pretty soon

Thank you for informing me of the mistake

I missed adding up the front axle as right-left half of No. 21.
Have done this now.
The two halves will be glued together.

Vandborg
thanks for that

Perfect as all of your stuff. I will make it fit my LGB trains, so the parts make a trip around Netfabb. It will be a nice Christmas Pressent for my self :-)
