Clips snugly onto your wireless XBOX 360 controller and enables you to open bottled beverages. (primarily BEER!)
Fits over the battery pack. Preserves the use of headset/microphone (just not while opening a bottle).
It's not perfect as it requires some additional pressure to actually open a bottle. I'm continuing the work on this until it works without any assistance. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! (I already have a few ideas)
I printed this with a MakerBot Replicator 2. I tried to design it to not require supports, but I unable to make that a reality. I printed with both supports and rafts enabled as well as a relatively high infill volume (approx. 25%) to increase its longevity.
Be careful when removing the support material (I injured myself while removing it from one of my prints, don't do the same).
There's two ways to connect this to a controller:
1) hook the band around the top of the battery pack, then pull the opener over the headset plugs
2) remove the battery pack, place the opener over the headset plugs, pull the band into place around the battery, reinsert the battery pack
I think that the second method has a smaller chance of breaking your print, but the first is faster and more convenient to do.
To open a bottle (with this version):
Hopefully, the geometry and shape makes it obvious how it fits onto a bottle. However, you do need to hold the opener in place to prevent it from flying off while opening a bottle. (hoping to fix this is the next version)
I was successful when I held the band on with my middle- and index-fingers while pressing the opener against the face of the controller with my thumb. It didn't require a ton of force, just enough to keep things in place.
