Thanks! I compared with other OpenSCAD springs: This one renders fast!

This would fit well in MCAD, the definitive openscad library. The best way is to fork on github and do a pull request: https://github.com/elmom/MCADhttps://github.com/elmom/MCAD but I can do it for you too. Just needs to be licensed as "LGPL 2.1 or later"

Ooh! How about using these to make a DIY accelerometer???

I'm thinking the calibration would be a nightmare for printed plastic springs, not to mention terrible sensitivity. The MEMS sensors are still a really good bargain. :)

Wow! That's really cool. I could imagine making these with an outer diameter the size of a 608 bearing and slipping them into my pillow block with a lock nut in the center. That would make for a nice no-wobble linear motion component.
