- 12V at least 1A AC/DC Power Supply
- DC/DC converter (http://www.amazon.com/RioRand-LM2596-Converter-1-23V-30V-Pcs-LM2596/dp/B008BHB4L8/ref=sr_1_3 )
- 120mm fan (http://www.mpja.com/12VDC-4-11_16in-Square-X-1-1_2in-Japan-Servo-Box-Fan/productinfo/18222%20FN/)
- Potentiometer, 10k, 1/4", single turn, with stop and On/Off Switch (Pulled from old FRS radio)
- 24AWG Wire, about 1ft.
Desolder the potentiometer from the DC/DC converter. Solder short leads from the 1/4" pot to the DC/DC converter pot location. Ensure that the orientation of the wiring matches the pot that was removed.
Solder one short lead onto the on/off switch of the pot.
Tie strain relief not in lead from DC power supply
Solder (+) lead from 12V dc power supply to the other potentiometer on/off switch post.
Solder the other lead from the potentiometer to the DC/DC converter (+) input.
Solder (-) lead from the 12V dc power supply to the DC/DC converter (-) input.
Tie strain relief knot in wire from fan.
Solder red lead from fan to the (+) output of the converter. The leads may be shortened but be sure they are long enough to reach the fan when installed on the adjustable arms.
Solder black lead from fan to the (-) output of the converter. The yellow lead is unused.
Thread potentiometer through hole in control box. Tighten nut onto cover. Do not overtighten
Place DC/DC converter on pegs on the 3d printed base. Use soldering iron to carefully melt the top of the pegs to secure the converter into place.
Install fan grill, fan and fan support plate using 4 screws and nuts.
Install arms onto fan support plate using placing double washers between the each contact of the plastic and 1 washer at each end of the screw. Tighten nut onto screw until the tension properly supports the fan. Place another nut on the screw and tighten snug against first nut. This will secure the first nut in place.
Mount the bottom arms to the base using the same process used to install on the fan support plate.
Carefully run the wires so that they enter into the control box under the cutouts.
Place box onto base and secure with the 4 wood screws from under the base of the fan.
