I was asked to make a model based on the flash gordon ship from the filmation cartoon series. This is my rendition for FFF printers at a low resolution.
I tried to make the panels print noticeably at a small scale

I made a new version
that printed ok (see pics)
I am removing the first version which while being closer to the
original fin design, had major problems printing even with
a base added. The new fins have a thicker width and a flat bottom.

This is beautiful!

There's very little contact area on the platform, so I'd be amazed if it prints as-is. I'd suggest adding an extremely thin disk (e.g. 0.3 mm) around the entire ship so the rocket base and fins are surrounded by the disk. It'd stick the whole ship to the build platform, but be just one layer thick so it can be peeled away from the rest of the ship easily.

For example, look at the disks on the ends of the Customizable Pen (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:47543)http://www.thingiverse.com/thi....

I am doing a test with a disc.
If it prints I will post it.

Good luck! I'd love to print this one...

I did 3 versions with the "original fins" but finally gave up and remodeled them as posted ("7")
the disc still had too small a contact point or if i made it too large an area, clean-up was ugly. this was the compromise that seemed to work most consistently.

Hello -

I've been waiting for this to appear!!! Are you going to make Ming the Merciless warships too?

Point me to some pics and I'll see what I can do!
