Looking for PLA? We offer unmatched 1.75 PLA print quality with our SP Series PLA.
While working on the Rostock BI edition we also tested different types of PLA filament spools. We found that when using spools with different inner diameters a versatile system is a must. We designed our spool holder to allow for a quick switch between many spool types. Our main design objectives were stability, reliability and versatility.

The spool holder is comprised of three main parts:
1) The spool holder base
2) The rotating platform
3) The spool adaptor
The key to our design is that you can modify and print several spool adaptors that match the types of spools you have on hand. Everything is held in place by gravity with the rotating platform connecting to the spool adaptor.
Sketchup model and .stl files are included. You can modify the spool adaptor in the sketchup model to suit your individual needs. We have included the .stl files for 3 dimensions of spools we have encountered so far.
Assemble the spool holder as per the exploded view (view full size), the M4 nut will thread into the plastic and stay in place.
We recommend printing your spool holder in PLA or ABS with an infill > 30%.
Depending on your printerââ¬â¢s performance, printing infill before perimeters may yield better results for the rotating platform and spool adaptor.
