We printed a few Screwless Gear Hearts, but some prints didn't quite make it to the end. In one case our plastic ran out before the print completed and another just had a regular printing glitch.
We decided to see what we could come up with using the leftover print parts and got some fun Holiday Ornaments for our effort.
You can read a bit more here:
If your print makes it about 2/3 of the way through then you can clean the pieces with a sharp chisel so that the top and bottom faces are flat.
Put the pin clips in the top piece, stack another piece below as a the bottom and super glue them together. We added some pressure using a clamp while the glue set up.
We think that you could use Emmett's original stl files for heart gears 2 & 4 with the Heartpins files if you started off with the intent to print these parts for ornaments, but seriously - this is just a way to reuse failed parts. We put the .stl files for those three parts in this remix post so you can find them easily, but we didn't actually make changes to Emmett's design - so give attribution to him!!!

Once you've got the parts glued together - Voila! You have a DIY ornament that keeps your failed print parts out of the trash and brightens the holidays.
