Summary

UPDATE (7/12/15): GOOD NEWS! My Raspberry Pi 2 case design is finally finished and ready for download. Go check it out!

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:922740

UPDATE (6/8/15): Sorry everyone for dropping the ball on getting the new Raspberry Pi 2 case complete. Development work has started again and I hope to get the new case released soon. Thanks!

UPDATE (2/3/15): Just ordered a new Raspberry Pi 2 Model B (same mounting as a B+), so expect a new version of the mount for the newer RPi's soon.

UPDATE (12/29/14): Updated STL's of part with correct orientation. Also added STEP files for those who want to modify.

None of the other cases shared around the web had to offer exactly what I wanted so I decided to design my own. This was a ground up design, but I have to give credit where credit is due. A lot of design cues and dimensions were borrowed from this case... http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:79036

This Raspberry Pi (Model B) case has a few key features that I wanted...

  • Access slot for Pi camera
  • Screw together design
  • Screw mount raspberry pi to case using standard mounting holes
  • Built in 75mm VESA mounting tabs.
  • Better general fit between components and clearances to all inputs/outputs
  • Rotary engine (reuleaux triangle) vent design

Also, the case is designed to use a flush mount microSD card. I use this one and it doesn't stick outside the case at all. http://www.adafruit.com/product/966

If anyone finds any problems (dimensionally or otherwise) post them up so I can get the model fixed.

Instructions

UPDATE (1/10/15): Some people have said that the fit was a bit tight, so it might be worth scaling up by 0.5% or 1% in your slicer. I haven't tested this though since it worked well as designed for me.

I printed these out of ABS with 0.2mm layers and 100% infill since they are pretty thin.

Screws for mounting Rasberry Pi to base are #2 size and 1/4" long.
Screws for mounting top to base are #2 size and 1/2" long.

Hello,
tks a lot for sharing. I've printed it on my Prusa 3D AnyCubic w/o issue, it fits perfectly.

Roberto

I have the original Pi B with NO mounting holes. Don't know if will fit this (printing now), but I think the size and connector placement is right, so the board will just 'float'. Might end up using a few dabs of glue, or double sided foam tape.

does its fit the pi 3 edition? i am a new guy to 3d and raspberry things.. :P

Definitely not. I have a Rpi3 and I mistakenly tried this and it doesn't fit at all.

Raspberry Pi 3, Pi 2, and Model B+ case with VESA mounts and more

Thanks. Printing now...

I'm thinking no. I printed this before I bought a pi 3, model B and its different than what this case will support.

This version doesn't fit the Pi3. My Pi3 case can be found here...

Is the current model "correct" or does it need to be upscaled still by 0.5% as stated below? It's a LONG print so I don't want to waste the time printing it the wrong size.

I did not scale it and it fits perfectly.

Just got my pi3 as a birthday present. got it up and running now time to make it look awesome too!

I Loved this one, maybe its Possible also Design a Case for a 2.5" HDD?Would be lovely for use with Octoprint

Sweet! Your model has been chosen as one of the Top 3D Printed Christmas / Holiday Models this year. Search "Top Free 3D Printed Christmas Gift 2015 Printing Ninja" to see. (sorry thingiverse bans url addresses)

Very cool. Thanks!

Printed out bottom. It looks great. Top is currently printing. I will post pictures when both are done. Thank you so much for the design. I have to ask: what is the symbol on the top???

Thanks

-Jake

Thanks. The symbol on the top is a design I came up with based on the reuleaux triangle. It is inspired by the Wankel rotary engine, which I am a major fan of.

How well will this work with an original model B that does not have mounting holes in the board?

Very nice design, thanks for sharing.

A RPI2 version would be awesome

RPi2 case is finally finished... http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:922740

I scaled it up 0.5% and it fits flawlessly! I love this design! (Printed in PLA)

Glad it worked out well for you as well! Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for the comments on size and I'm glad you guys are liking the design.

It was designed to be a very precise fit (about 0.5mm clearance around most parts), so I may post up another version sometime in the future that has some slightly opened up clearances. For now I'll add some wording to the instructions that scaling it up by 0.5% may be advisable.

Hi. Print was ok but it should be a Little bit bigger as cruseddagger says. I will upload some Pictures soon.

Awesome, thanks a lot! it's a really nice design. I printed mine in PLA and the fit was almost perfect, maybe will scale it 1% bigger next time i print.

Hi.
Nice work. I will try made one.
