Update December 7th 2016

-- Complete rewrite of the customizable hinge is now available! It should print immensely easier for most users. I'm going to disable the customizer flag on this, though if you still want to, you can open up the scad script to customize it yourself locally. I do highly recommend switching to the new one though!

Update - April 14th (2014 I think?)
--Added support material
--Options to print vertical or horizontal (though I don't think horizontal will work very well)

Customizable hinge that prints all at once! You will have to break it free at first.

Warning: Hinge does not come apart like many others! (unless it's only got 2 joints)

More to come!
--Plans to have half-hinge and removable pin options. These will allow you to use the scad to include the hinges as part of your own creations!

  1. Customize to your liking
  2. Print upright.
  3. Take a razor around the joints
  4. Firmly bend to break free
  5. Enjoy!

how small can you make this? is 1/2 inch possible? even smaller?
[email protected]

The ones I printed of this (now several years ago) where about 1.5" in height. How small you can go will depend on your printer. I wouldn't use this design though, I'd recommend checking out my v2 customizable hinge.

How can I set the center to center distance between the holes? I need to make a hinge for my duplicator 4 front door. Thanks in advance.

I wonder if this would print better upright or flat.. Starting to think upright would cause less difficulty in breaking it free and would cause a better working hinge with lower possible tolerance.

Printing flat but on a raft might help, although the updated rafts are quite terrible. Printing it on painters tape works though, comes right off! I think it would not print upright, given the delicate space it needs between the gaps in the hinge knobs.

Printed flat it will have issues with printing around the hinge cylinders, upright is between the cylinders. There's an issue either way..
