I wanted a transparent door for my Velleman Vertex K8400 printer.
This kit contains hinges, a no contact magnet lock, some assembly time mounting clips, and instructions for making the acrylic glass door itself.

Please scale prints to 1/10, as this is a Sketchup design.
All parts are in millimeters.

For further instructions please see:

Please scale prints to 1/10, as this is a Sketchup design.

Cut the door out from 4 mm acrylic glass or similar.
Use the front panel as a template.
Cut the door at least 1.5 mm smaller than the opening in every direction, as it is mounted in flush with the front panel.
Use a file to smoothen the edges.
Polish to make them shine.

The hinges are fastened to the front panel with two hexagon socket M5 x 16 mm screws, two M5 washers, and two M5 locking nuts.

The hinges are fastened to the hatch with four hexagon socket M5 x 12 mm screws, and two M5 locking nuts.

The lock requires two ø10 x 2.5 [mm], (coin shaped), neodymium magnets, two M3 x 10 mm flat head screws, and two M3 locking nuts.
And for a click free operation, some PVA-glue in the magnet compartments.

(For those of you who have a Clas Ohlson shop near by, their art nr 31-1467 are the magnets that i bought.)

I've made a design for the front door that has a 2mm gap between the door and the prontpanel, i also have the possibility to laser cut the front door from pmma(plexi) 4mm

If someone is intrested let me know something

I'm interested in the front door drawing, so I can laser cut it. Can you send it to me pls ? [email protected]

thanks for sharing, I am printing all pieces right now. WOndering if you have the drawing of the front panel for cutting...

I'm glad you liked it cyrus!
I'm sorry to say that I don't have a model.
I guess that I could try to ask Welleman about the cut out, or put mine in the scanner, (although it's not perfect either).
Things are a bit hectic for the moment, but I'll keep it in mind.

Thanks :) ! Printing it now!

Nice design, do your find that having the door benefits printing in any way?

Not per se, but together with a lid i've made, it keeps the dust out, (and my cat ;) ).

Hi so sorry, could someone please jot down actual sizes these need to print at please? im getting all sorts of tiny bits scaling down to 1/10 :(

Hi Nevarore,
I checked, and "UNITS=MM" was stated in all headers except for the "K8400 Hatch mounting clips.stl".
So as Murphys law rules, of course you had to start with that one... ;)
I have fixed this now, and thanks for pointing this out!

Great but missing units in STL files :/
