This is a new expansion for Khet 1.0: The Gate of Aqebi.
My original inspiration was to make a game piece that could block and die like an Obelisk or could rotate and "hide" from the laser. However, once I started researching Egyptian gates, I came across the Book of Gates and found some interesting ancient writings about the Gate of Aqebi. (http://www.ancientegyptonline.co.uk/bookgates2.html) As a result I have decided on a slightly different set of rules.
1) The Gate of Aqebi is a replacement for the Obelisks and Anubis game pieces. Simply place them wherever these pieces would normally be during setup.
2) The Gate of Aqebi can make the same movements as Obelisks and Anubis: one space or rotate 90 degrees.
3) The Gate of Aqebi cannot be removed from the game. If a laser hits the side of the gate, the laser is blocked for this turn, and the gate must rotate 90 degrees immediately after the laser stops. This does not count as a player's turn (it is an automatic movement).
4) If the laser passes through the gate, the gate does not rotate automatically. Remove any pieces that are hit by the laser as normal.
That's it! Short and sweet! I think this has some great potential for really fun game play. If you have any questions or come up with some alternate house rules, please leave a comment.
Print the gate and glue it to the base. Print both upside down and you won't need any support material.
I printed with 20% fill at 100 mm/s on my Ulitmaker 1.0 in red and silver PLA.
