Summary

Made this for 118mm cvd driveshafts and 02024 metal differentials.

21-09-2015 Added Differential_Housing_Lower_m3fix - all m3 holes are now 2,7mm diameter instead of 3,2mm before
Additional information: use 2x 5x10x4 Bearings for the backside (same as in the c-hubs)

Hey Bitfrost!

First thanks for your hard work, I really appreciate it.
I also have a question about bearings used.

In the pinion gear, you need 5x10x4 bearing, that is ok, but I also see you need two more bearings at left and right of the piece.
What is the size of that two bearings? 5x10x4 is too small.

Does one need to use your top plates in your rework when using both your front/read differentials and central differential together? My top plate front seems to be about 1/4"in short.

Will these work with HSP 188015 CVD's?

Any chance we can get a turnbuckle slightly smaller for the rear? for whatever reason mine one lineup and is a few mm off...

what bearings are used in the differential housings, looks like the pics have one inserted in the back, is there the same 10x15 used inside in front of the gear also?

No, it´s a smaller one. 5x10x4, like the ones in the C-Hubs.

I got two bearings inserted from the back.

OK, so just insert two into the back and I should be good to go. I notice the indentation inside the part presumably for a bearing like the original one so thought I had to put one in there too. Thanks for the information.

Yes, you should go with this setup. No this is because the differential pinion has the same size as an original bearing. No problem.

I have changed my drive system to your metal version remix and it seems good so far.

Just one request please...the rear/front diff lower housing seem to have bigger holes for some of them (top holes and wishbone pin holder block holes) so that the m3 screws are do not tighten. I have got around this by ordering m4 screws but would like to keep everything simple as in Daniel Norees original ethos of m3 for everything...just makes life simpler :-) It might be my printer but only some are loose so maybe you made bigger on the redesign?

Could I ask if you could upload stp files or email a file format that I could edit these holes in Solidworks? Thanks in advance. One other observation, where you have increased the wall (on the drive shaft side) this now slightly interferes with the steering plate. I would like also to cut this away on the model.

If you could send the files or upload the front/rear diff lower housing for editing in Solidworks that would be awesome!

All holes are actually made for m3 screws like Norees original. As you can see in the technical drawing of the wishbones the small pin is 2,1mm diameter and the bigger is 3,1mm diameter.

the inventor files (.ipt files) do not open in solidworks. Are you able to save them to a format that solidworks will accept? I only need the differential lower housing please?

Yes, you are right one is for front and the other for the rear differential.

Any clue which one is which? Does the shorter one go on the front or back?

The short ones goes for the back and the longer one is for front.

that's strange, on the original design it was longer turnbuckles at back and shorter turnbuckles at front. How comes yours is the opposite? that doesn't make sense? or am I missing something here?

The original got 74mm Turnbuckles for both, front and back.
I got different turnbuckles - shortened 70,5mm (for FRONT) and 68,5mm (for REAR)!
They are fitting perfectly on my Truggy. Please let me know when they should be not on yours.

I got no voice at front/rear diffs. The only sound i got is the central diff and my motor pinion. Do you use differential grease? I do. Maybe this is your solution!
I can make a 2mm longer whishbone if you want? Let me know ;)

Not really a visual thing just a sound thing. I think its just the way these gears are. Theres alot of play in the mesh and it just makes alot of gear noise. Its also inherent in the factory HSP gearbox too.

I use differential grease and its very quiet at all. Or try reduce the space between pinion and differential. I'll make a video later for you ;)

Currently printed the diff housing and one is complete. It just sounds like there is a alot of gear slap, is this normal or did i do something wrong?
