Summary

A simple mod to help stabilize the z-axis of the Velleman Vertex K8400. It uses a plain 608 bearing to hold the axis in place. I do have to say, for me the quality difference is barely noticeable but there's no vibrating sound coming from my z-axis anymore and I like that too.

Before using the mod, please check if this mod fit's your printer too and that it doesn't damage your z-axis!

i print it and a plastic cilinder (see in made picture) ext diameter 21,8mm hole internal 8,5mm hight of cilinder 6mm ; i print internal hole with offset of 1mm. to compensate support....... if u want u can apply a drop of cyanoacrylate glue on the outer edge

Threaded rod K8204 is pooooor quality (soft material, not plane)

Thanks for sharing that owlund. The distance I set was only 'best measure' since I didn't had any official CAD files at the time. Maybe if more users need it moved out a bit I need to change the design.

Works great without any modification. My Vertex is now much more quiet ! Thank you !

Mh..getting some trouble :-/ I'm trying to print the stabilizer but something doesn't work well when start to print the rear clip not laid on the base. Any suggestion?

I did rotate the object before printing (90° X axis) before printing, which avoids the problem during printing as well (just reading the comments while printing)

Did you print with support all around the model?

mh...are you telling me to activate the support creation in cura engine :-/ ? I'm printing with the k8400 and Mac, first attempt with CuraEngine for mac... pretty inexpert I Know...but at least I'm learning eheh.

Yes, you need to use full support (slicer setting) to print this part.

simple and wonderfull :) , simply wonderfull , works a treat don't even have to drill holes witch put me off making one gr8 idea

Great job. but usually this kind of upgrade is reason why layers are worst not better. Try to calibrate Z motor position instead.
