Design made in Sketchup, based on the sculpture LOVE by Robert Indiana.

The font is Times New Roman used in the Sketchup 3D Text tool. The "O" was rotated in Sketchup also. Individual letters have been moved very closely together but do not touch, Skeinforge didn't like that.

Now if somebody knows and can tell me how not to get strange messages from Skeinforge when I have the letters touch each other in Sketchup, I'd be very grateful!

I "love" this design and I plan on using it at my wedding. The O needs to have more contact with the rest of the letters. I just printed this in a very large format and the O just seperated from the rest of the piece. I've also have this issue with smaller prints too. See the one that I made.

You need to select all and intersect the faces before you export. Or you could take our class at hive76 about SketchUp for 3D printing. :-D :-D

Well, I just tried this, and Skeinforge still complains about "dangling edges", compiles it but it needs 3 times as long to print than when the letters are not touching...

I think skeinforge will complain if there are lines on the inside of objects, which you can get if you move shapes so that they're touching but don't then use view\x-ray to merge the objects and clean up the interior lines.

That said, if it prints ok, the messages are safe to ignore.

Well, it still makes it more difficult to derive from. Other tools (openscad f.e.) will also complain if you try to import the STL.

This is a really nice piece! I'll have to get some red PLA so I can have a copy as nice as your photo.

Thx ScribbleJ, it has actually been printed with red ABS, not PLA. I've already printed your MK5 replacement with the bearing and springs, but haven't had the time to mount it yet.
