Summary

For Toyota Engine Cover,

6mm Hole Push to lock Clip.

2 Versions of design.

One on Print, One experimental. The "Straight Up" one is poor quality of my RepRap, I may do a re-work which uses 3mm filament to clip it in place. Straight up also broke its pin as I removed it from the bed. D'oh.

The V2 is on print now. Try the combined STL.

I will update.

......

Ok, this was printed successfully and is in my engine bay fine, has been for 8+ months.
....its pink. Makes it easier to see

p.s. if you like this car part, why not download (or just view) the other designs I've done:

scaled 85% used for corolla 2009 bumper with better than oem results (Not the surface quality but it fits super tight)

I have a solution in mind, taking advantage of the design you used for the "female" pin you could add a little bump on the male pin side so it stucks, so you will have to force it to get it out.

BTW, I'm planning to use it on my corolla but I would like to do some mods, what kind of file is PK2? Would you mind sharing the sources in a more easy to handle format like obj?

Creo Elements Driect Modelling.

Used to be a small direct modelling company that ProE Bought out.

It's pretty straight forward to use, the one problem is the saving as STL, which has to have the individual Part Properties increased in resolution (in main window, right click, properties, faces or resolution or similar) to give a good quality print.

Hi, tried to print this, nice design but got one flaw.

Because of shape of pin and reciever when it is in motor bay with pressure on it, the pin wants to slide out by itself. See video for demostration.

Hi,

Thanks for printing.

I've had one on my Toyota engine bay for years, and when I need to remove it I generally need to lever underneath with a screw driver or blade.

That's holding an engine cover in place on a sheet metal part.

Have you tried it in position?

Is it ABS you printed in?

Thanks for the Demo Video I'll have a look later and see if we can add detents or similar though.

Printed with PETG on my Original Prusa i3.

I tried it in place in motor bay.

Toyota Avensis 2009.

Mine's an 07, but I wouldn't have expected any issue where it is going through a hole in Sheet Metal.
Mine was printed in ABS though,
I'll download the files and see if we can get a detent in there later tonight.

I would imagine if the male part was a bit longer with a small bulb on the end it would work.

Okey, thanks a lot for quick replies and interest to fix it.

Will reprint if you upload new files.
