I bought a bronze filament spool and I am going to try doing this googles with it, i´ll post it when finised.

I'm going to try and make a pair and mix them with an iris (below). Do you mind if I repost your .stl files with my remix? Just so there all in one place. I will post a link to your goggles and give you credit :)

Mechanical Iris

Are your parts scaled with inches, centimeters, or millimeters? I am trying to print the parts online and I need this so I don't accidentally order some steampunk goggles for a mouse ;) By the way these are great!

There is an iris lid floating around that has almost the exact shape as these. You could probably combine them to great effect.

1/8th acrylic

  • I don't use cad I take the artist way in things and use blender. Pure box modeling ;)

What is the thickness of the laser cut acrylic?

Any chance of posting a .STP or other CAD file format? What CAD tool are you using?

These are a very cool idea and I'm probably going to make a pair for my son.

Keep in mind that the lenses you use aren't going to be impact resistant like real safety glasses unless you use something like lexan. Plexiglass definitely is not impact resistant.

that doesn't stop them from being fun! :D
