Summary

I bought a new smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 920, and found my old self-printed car-Mount begin too small. So I decided to design a new one using my increased knowledge of OpenSCAD and my better printing experience. This result is fully customizable, can load different smartphones and you can even add different holder-adapters. I decided to use two different Adapters - one to have the man stand on my desk and one to attach the man to the Ventilation of my car. You may create your own Adapters simply by creating a plate that you can screw to the back of the man - see the adapter-scad-file example.

My own Smartphone holder and the Galaxy Holder from Telepath inspired me with this Thing.

Instructions

If you own a Lumia 920, simply print the provided "CarMountMen.stl".

If you own another Smartphone, measure the width and the thickness of your Smartphone and use the customizer to create your personal holder.

For the stand you may use the "CarAdapter.stl" or create your own Version. For simplicity I've added "StandAdapter.stl" which you may use to put the man on your desk. The "CarAdpater" has a slightly turned hole, so that the man Show in the direction of the Driver. The "StandAdapter" has this hole turned, so that the man can stand. Please see the Pictures - I don't know how to say that in english. ;)
I've used the "VentilationMountStick" to Mount it to my Ventilation and to put it on my desk.

Then simply screw the Adapter to the man with some M3x16 or similar. The holes for the screws are countersunk so won't scratch your smartphone on the back.

Bro you are fine. I mean if you live in Arizona it may be an issue. But as long as you have cool air coming through the vents you should be fine.

This is awesome, too bad I print in PLA... lol

Can't handle car heat I'm told.

I tryed this variables:

thickness = 3;
cellphoneWidth = 79;
cellphoneThickness = 13;

bodyWidth = 15 * 1;

And man was not good ...
bodyWidth = 20 * 1; - must be constant?

Nice job, I haven't a clue how to use OpenSCAD or customizer, but I believe there is an error in your code causing the dude's left forearm to be a separate mesh. It may or may not cause problems in Gcode, but often times it will create a border with the shells where two solid meshes meet causing a weakness. If anyone's left forearms are breaking off, that is probably why.

Open the guy up in any program capable of handling meshes and you should be able to select the whole body, and then just the left forearm. It can quickly be booleaned back together (or joined, whatever your program calls it) but I think it is an issue.

Hi.
Do you think its possible to customize it also in the lenght??

Yes, that should be easily possible. I just do not have the time at the Moment. But you may download the OpenSCAD-File and enhance it in the way that the Body Stretches accordingly.
I may take a look at this in the next days, but I can't promise.

So I'm having a problem when trying to use the customizer.. Read about the problem here:

What values did you enter? You may Need to check them. It Sounds like they lead the object to be not manifold.

At Cellphone width i entered: 60.5 mm
And at Cellphone thickness i entered: 14.2 mm

I tried downloading the Iphone holder man and it took me to a page showing all the gcode
