A hollow ball and socket joint. Snaps into itself and holds well. Hollow to allow cable to be run though it. Currently working on attachments and other modular pieces to fit on.

NOTE: This thing isn't designed to be printed in ABS/PLA. The tolerance in the pieces don't allow them to fit into each other.

Is there any way to print these in ABS/PLA so that they're working afterwards? Also do you have any construction files that Inventor can read? I'm planning on using them to mount a Rasperry-Pi-Camera to one of the towers of my kossel mini so the camera has a good view on the print in OctoPrint :)

I'm not afraid to admit there's better designs out there. The problem with this particular one is that there's not enough tension in the material to have them stay in position once force/weight is applied. Printed in ABS/PLA, they are a very tight fit and once locked in place, any movement/friction will loosen the tension making the point of the ball/socket joint obsolete.

I think I might revisit this one and rework it. It was one of my first designs and not that great looking back.

This was printed with Taulman 618 Nylon.

Could you provide the source files?

I've uploaded both an IGES and a STEP file.

Ideally for anything which needs flexible to adjust but sturdy once put in position, e.g. webcam or light for 3d printer or desk.

Btw, do they lock when you align multiple pieces vertically (e.g. the layer ribs interlocking), or is it neglectable (e.g. one could think of making deliberate a pattern for prefered tilt)?

They don't lock in any specific form. The tension within keeps them in their relative position. I do like the idea of a deliberate design to keep them in a predetermined pattern.
