The ultimate Makers Chess Set (travel edition) to show off the print skills of my DIY DLP printer.

Please check out the details of the small rook. It is just 13.41mm high but prints still with "fully functional" stairs!

Both the vertical and horizontal boxes are 110x110mm. The vertical box is aprox 35mm high and the horizontal just 21mm! The chessboard is 97x97mm.

Special thanks to PerryT and Seechless for their chess pieces, and to Acker for his parametric compartment box which code I "hacked" into this nice round box. The rounded corners are to prevent warping which makes it also possible to print this box in ABS.

-Print the box on your reprap 3D printer(i used my prusa i2)
-Print the chess pieces on a SLA/DLP 3D printer(i used my DIY SLA printer 16s/layer 100 micron with makerjuice subG+)
-Find a nice FabLab and use their laser to cut your chess board/box lid

Have fun and impress your friends!

How thick of a piece of wood did you use for the chess board?

3mm wood but it is relative simple to change the design of the box to fit another thickness. The openscad file allows you to do that.

Have fun printing/remixing this design!
