I do not have any training in the chemistry of polymers
However, everything that I have read since I have been using my 3D printer has indicated that abs is not food safe.
Food products made of abs can leach compounds
Additionally, 3D printed items have imperfect surfaces that can harbor bacterial growth when they come in contact with food.
of course this is probably not a huge issue when alcohol is being stored in the cup.

thanks for the input - your concerns align with my own. a shotglass is not really intended for "storage" of alcohol, so hopefully the 2 seconds between pouring the shot and killing it isn't enough time for it to leach anything toxic into the drink. my experiments proved to my satisfaction that alcohol does not dissolve ABS like acetone does, and no visible ABS residue was observed after soaking in pure alcohol for several hours, so i'm not too worried. i definitely would not drink hot coffee out of a printed mug. high temperatures are known to release synthetic estrogens and other endocrine disruptors (e.g. bisphenol A, a.k.a. BPA) from polymers. no thanks!
