Printed well in PLA, but I had to reduce to ~98% to get it to fit my canon EF 50mm II.

Yeah I think I sized the model to printing in ABS, which always is off because of the shrinkage. Anyone printing in PLA should shrink it to about 98.3%. Thanks for the comment!

Springs are too weak and do not work well with ASB. Also due to the thinness of the spring, you should print with zero shells.

Seems a very interresting design ! Way more sofisticated than other designs that can be found out here :)

Just one question.. would you have it for a 77mm diameter ?
(I could try to simply change the scale on the printer driver, but I'm not sure of the result as it would change the thickness of the springs...)
Thanks ForgetfulJones :)

Anyway that you can post the source so that I can adjust the lens size? Love your remix.

I think I got rid of it right after exporting, I can edit the stl to whatever size for you though. What size lens do you need it for?

NOOO!! ctl+z ctl+z bring it back!

This is a really cool design.

Do you scale the x and y to make different size caps?

58mm - I tried to scale the cap to fit, but I think it was actually a calibration issue. I scaled x & y by 1.115 and z by 1. That should work right?

How did you efit the stl file ? I tried importing it in Catia but coundn't find a way to change the scale..
Thanks !

This is a really neat device - I especially like the fact that it can be printed in one go, without needing further assembly.

I'd like to feature it as an example of good design on my blog, http://3DGeni.us3DGeni.us - can you tell me which app you created it in? Do you have any screenshots from the app that I could use by way of explanation?

Thanks - steve@3dgeni.us or reply to me here.

Steve

Well leemorton123 made the original, I just changed the springs. I used 3dsmax to do the springs btw

Thanks for the explanation!
