Input important information that is specific to your machine, specify the speed and resolution you desire, and get back values to enter into Skeinforge(for great looking prints!). Unpolished MK6 reversal calculations are also available, but are still a work in progress.

Inspired by the work of Dave Durant: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5310

The first sheet is for working with Skeinforge, and the other has general calculations.

  1. Open the spreadsheet in Open Office, or download Open Office from http://www.openoffice.org/
  2. Fill in the preferences specific to your extruder (Filament Diameter, Nozzle Diameter, and Drive Gear Diameter)
  3. Specify desired printing speed and resolution (Feed Rate and Layer Height)
  4. Duplicate the current default profile (RepG24 or later) for your filament size and setup
  5. Copy the output values and replace into Skeinforge
  6. Print!

Print-o-matic is a great program. But I think it would really benefit from the option to change the build plate temp.

I agree. Unfortunately, I am not involved in hardware development at MakerBot anymore. This tool hasn't been updated for over 2 years, and I'm not sure if it is still being used in the current software tool chain either. Now it is only useful as a reference for better understanding how your printer works.

In case you don't have OpenOffice already, you can download the file and upload to Google Docs. GDocs will convert and all should be well :)

Does this work for the Mk4 Plastruder? I see that it gives the flowrate in RPM but not PWM. Also, not all the names match up in my menu. Perhaps I'm using the wrong version of skeinforge?

This is only for stepper extruders and I believe it is meant for SF35 or later

I am having a issue with the calculations updating when I enter the settings to the spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is not changing when I change the settings.

I've heard Excel loses the background equations, so it sounds like you should either download OpenOffice from the link in the description or import the file into a google spreadsheet. I'm in the process of adding more parameters, and the next version will also include an excel file.

Very nice! Although the fudge factor value on the main sheet and the calculation sheet are independent, which probably shouldn't be the case.

It doesn't seem to like me using a 0.3 layer height with a 0.9 nozzle, though :)

Oh yeah, all sheets are completely independent from each other. The main one is for Skeinforge, and the others are just for general info.

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to preview this when you offered on IRC; I was cleaning the apartment. :/ Looks brilliant!

Cleaning the appartment! [looks around] Oh no, perhaps I should do that too :(
