Please be kind. this is my first thing i ever designed and printed, i am very proud of this item and i know it still needs some fine tuning.

updated 5/2:
created a belt holster for ebox mod. Print with support, scale up 0.01 if you don't feel like sanding

updated 4/26:
moved charging port to side so it will stand when charging, no more leaking vaps.
created a cut on battery holster for easier access to screws for momentary switch.

updated 3/22:
as per request i have uploaded base with support for a 12mm switch. i have over-sized it by 0.4 mm making the hole 12.4mm allowing any 12mm switch to slide in smoothly

update 3/21:
wired up the box mod. everything fit as i wanted. i uploaded more pictures of the wired box.

this is a single 18650 box mod unregulated with a tp4056 lipo charger module.

45mm x 80mm x 25mm

components used:
1x IRLB3034 (mosfet)
1x 15k resistor
2x battery pins
1x momentary switch
1x tp4056 5v 1a lithium batt charger
1x 510 spring loaded 22m connector

ps: i have not soldered this unit together yet but i will doing so very soon to see if anything needs adjustment but overall everything does fit perfectly. this is also designed so that the battery is apply pressure to the lid to keep a tight fit.

pps: during the course of making this box mod, i learn how to use openscad. my codes are very sloppy and once i clean it up. i will upload the scad files.

p.p.p.s: if you enjoyed this thing, check out my other things

abs: 230c
brim: 20mm
heatbed: 100c
layer height: 0.25
nozzle: 0.4

that's what i used to print.

how do i print the lid perfectly flat? im printing onto painters tape with kids glue on it and the tape slowly peels up causing the print to slightly bow

Hey there, I want to build a mod similar as yours but with a bottom feeder.
I plan to use tp4056 with the battery protection model. But in this link;

they say it cant be used for vaping since it has max 3A.
But you are clearly using it, whats the deal?
Im verry new to this stuff, thanks.

Ps i have realised that this was from 2015 afer posting

What does the mosfet and resistor do in this circuit?

How did you print the lid ? Which side facing down?

Superbly designed. Everything fit together with very minimal effort. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work. JJ

I print it in PLA, using as low as 0.3ohm coils and ir works great. :)
Updated again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udyrF895XKw
And did a reprint using MatterControl, great result :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8AfuIpNxPk

I don't recommend printing modboxes with pla, if you build a low ohm coil on your device it can get hot and pla is not the kind of filament that likes that. if you have a printer that only prints pla you can probably print abs too, just prepare you bed with some abs juice and it will stick without heating the bed ;-)

I updated my Box Mod.

In a few days will solder it and test fire it.
If i like the feel of using this mod, will need to reprint it with no lifted corners and use it as daily driver. :)

i found out that the tp4056 overcharges the flat top batterys without battery protection, they have made a new chargerboard with battery protection. its best to use that one. you can buy it at aliexpress, this the cheapest one i found pack of 20 http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-20Pcs-lot-5V-1A-Micro-USB-18650-Lithium-Battery-Charging-Board-Charger-Module-Protection/32221146695.html

it also has a micro usb connection in stead of the mini usb, more common and compatible with all the new smartphone chargers ;-)

thanks for sharing, yes i use the model with battery protection already.
also the new designed box mod i have uploaded fits only for micro usb.

what is this please?? is it a flashlight?

Great print, i made one just printed it yesterday.
If you are still looking for upgrade idea
Twin battery and outside voltage meter would be a great thing to add.
Hopefully you do because its a great design, loving it, keep up the great work

i'm almost done with the dual battery mod. i'll be uploading it soon on thingiverse. i'm trying to keep it low profile as much as possible so i will creating my own button for it.

My print of this box: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NZIonLXBKA

Damn dirty glass, corners got lifted up.. :/ Will have to reprint it or sand it until my hands will hurt. :)

my lifted too, but just a liitle bit, flattening first layer by 0,1mm fixed that (clean glass, wiped every print)

With what do you clean your glass?

awesome vid. sorry it lifted. i used cura slicer with brim option on my bed to achieve this print.

I will try to use brim next time. I think there could be a problem with my electronics fan. Some of the air comes to the bed, maybe that one of the reasons that the print lifted..

i bought cork dinner placemats from ikea for $12 and cut them to size to keep the heated bed nice and hot http://www.novaspirit.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/DIY-Cork-Placements-Step-1.jpg
it's way cheaper then buying cork mats from ebay that are fitted to size($25 or so each).

Sorry, can you be more specific? Do you print on them? Or you cover the bottom side of heated bed?

Sorry. You use them to cover the bottom of heat bed. It helps retain the heat more efficient and regulated.

Oh, ok. Will try that. Thanks :)

Where did you find your battery connectors ?

look in old tv remote

Keystone 228 and 209 work well in this box you just have to remove the wire loop and solider to top of contact
I really like this little box thanks

i did exactly the same, but keystone have contacts designed already for "slide in" battery holders

thanks, i updated and added support for micro usb 4056 charger. to make it even more geeky i created a belt holster for this mod

what is this ? what does it do ?

this is known as a box mod for electronic cigarettes.

update, so i have used this box mod for about 24 hrs now and i'm feeling confident. feels very sturdy. if you printed with white material like i did you will clearly see the charging led while box is closed. i have not faced any heat issue which i was concerned about. all in all i'm having a great experience with this box mod so far.

Would you be able to make one with 12mm hole for switch?
I printed one and looks great!
Thank you!

sure, do you happen to have a link or picture to switch?. do you need 12mm exactly or 12.4 so the switch will slide in freely?.

I uploaded a new base with 12mm button support. let me know how it goes.

i wish i used a higher gauge wire. those of you who are following my wire layout please use higher gauge wire so you can use a 0.5 ohm atty. i will update my setup when i get a chance

Looks good, will try to print it later on today.

if anybody has any concerns please let me know. i will try to fix any issues that may be present. thanks for viewing. please like!
