Summary

This is an airship I designed for a steampunk D&D game.

It is scaled just a bit small for 28mm minis. If you plan to use it in a game you should scale it up to probably at least 130%.

It should hold maybe 6 or so minis; it should feel a bit tight for the minis, even though the print is a pretty huge one! I'm still new to modeling, so it's very simple in design; nothing too intricate or beautiful. You could probably decorate it with barrels, ropes, or mounted ballistae to make it into a neat warship.

I haven't tried printing it yet... I cut it into pieces that hopefully will be easy to print, but I have no idea. If you try printing it, please let me know how it goes!

Edit: I have started printing, and as I suspected the support ropes gave me some trouble, so I have detached them from the hull and uploaded them separately. Good luck!

made the baloon... looks nice

Great! Post a pic when you can!

making the baloon part rigth now....

Awesome! Post some photos when you do.

I've made the hull twice at two different sizes. It printed well, but the ropes were a problem.

If you decide to print the ropes and the railings, lay them flat so that your printer creates them in long strokes rather than short rings (if that makes any sense). That will make them sturdier.

Thank you! I've been working on this for a long time... it's really my first big thing that I've modeled myself from scratch rather than cobbling together bits and pieces of other peoples' models (including yours!) in Thingiverse. I intend to print it out at some point, but it looks like it will take a few days to complete all the pieces, providing nothing goes wrong. I'm particularly worried about those ropes printing well. But we'll see. Let me know if you give it a try!
