This is the result of a sad story in the reprap-movement.

I share the files, Benjamin McDaniels has created and sold to me in form of the ready assembled bot. I like his concept and luckily he has published his files under GPL. Because they are gone, it is my turn to reupload them, so the rest of the movement can get their finger on it.

Sad story? Not for this files. Not for me -all in all- but for s few funders (check Japica on Kickstarter..) and buyers (check Japica on ebay..). Well, the bot, what was delivered is far away from a professional "best printer from the USA", how he has called his invention in former times. Well, i got it in my hands for a price I had accepted. But others may havent had this luck. I had written many nice and kind emails and could threaten Japica with personal visit. Japica has found its way to Kickstarter and has canceled the funding after 5000$ for its new concept. I can call myself lucky because Japica has not reached Kickstarter before they have seen themself in a position, i which i could have destroyed the funding even before it has begun by posting about the delivering-time of about half a year. Make the emails public.

well, i got my bot. kind of a prototype. (have a look: http://youtu.be/FKxTzyK6H7k ) rough edges to fix. it couldnt work like it was delivered. sold as tested, but even the headbed is not equal. it has three different qualitys of prints. but there it is. I had have wished all luck for Benjamin McDaniels firm and development, promised to support him with high quality videos and comments. But Japica refused by sending a half-baked bot without any description. Nor support. Now the firm is gone, all files and reputations on Japicas own profile here in Thingiverse with it and support can only delivered by us, the community itself. Get the files! I think until now, it was a good concept, well developed, smooth design.

Thanks to DatenKrieger now there are 3 missing parts recoverted!1!!

well, i have forgotten to ask:
if someone could sent me a good firmware for the Japica printer, i would upload this at well. i could need some help with the configuration. and stuff.

The only thing sad about this is how they tried to use their scam-artistry to sell a shit design. Please remove from the internet.

this is the firmware running my maschine:

i im proud so far, it was not easy to fish all important informations out of the net, but i have documentated them in the configuration.h

i wish, someone could help me on this, because it is really a level too high for me. i want to have this fantastic automatisation installed, but i am not sure, which parts of the firmware is to alter to implement the automatisation into the v1 of Marlin.

since i have no 3d printer yet i am building a repstrap now, made of bamboo and pvc pipe. staying with the 608 bearing design i had originally come up with before i found these designs. will hopefully post my design once i get all the pieces fab'ed.

if any one notices japica crawl out from under the rock they slithered under, remind they hath earned a wizards wrath.

i still cannot belive, he had this in mind from the beginning. the
concept must have taken days! but now he has THAT bad reputations,he will never come up again with an idea. he just cannot. perhaps his grandpa or girlfriend or someone else with an other name could rebuild his "firm". never the less, his new concept is known now too so a changed name wouldnt help him a lot. new concept, new name. well in fact i am sorry for him. it could have worked out really good.. we will see: i am going to tell you in about two weeks, if the bot (16"x16"x8" - dualhead) is actually working (after fixes).

i ordered these from ben at japica back in february with a denser 90% infill plus a printrboard since he assured me he would er withun a week... needless to say, though i emailed him once every two weeks, i never received my plastic parts or board, so now i'm repstrapping the $1000 in components i independently sourced, thank god)

this chapter should be a lesson for us and the movement. he probably is not the first who mess around with good willed people and he probably wouldnt be the last one. first rule should be: always look out for recommendations - hm.. well, do what I say, not what I did!

the sad thing is i bought all my othother parts on ebay and amazon over the last two months with zero trouble. just ordered a RUMBA to replace the printrboard i bought and will never see. build will be 24"x48"x32" print area.

the RUMBA contoller board actually looks VERY nice!

my repstrap ill have a stationary build platform, with x and yy axes drivdn by belts, with 60 skate bearings that are modeled after a steel roller coaster supported on the sides each with 15 sets in total to maximize smooth travel along my 8 smooth half inch rods.. i am going to be concentrating on printing rain barrels and water proof cabinets for pocket libraries at my community garden. as well as using it to design full print assembled machines such as a compressed earth brick maker. i need big things and a printrbot just would accomplish my goals.

To clarify, xy axis will be similar to ultimaker but with four smooth rods instead of two. Bearing coasters are spaced 120° apart in equaleteral triangular formations inside 3 1/2" pvc pipe slices 1" wide. These slices wink connect to motors and belts to drive the printer nozzle.

It was a mediocre design at best that suffered tremendously from over promising and under-delivering. I have a friend who's printer was delivered in much worse shape than yours. Japica went out of business for a good reason - they delivered crap product after promising the world.

I am sorry to hear that, SystemsGuy. I do not understand how they could have made their vidz on Youtube.. http://www.youtube.com/user/Japicainhttp://www.youtube.com/user/Ja... - these printers are looking VERY good and the products they are printing, too. And i do not understand further, why they did so. I mean, they could have a buissnes running right now, earning way more money by selling these bots (if they would look and print like shown in their videos) than by ripping off their customers. It just wouldnt get into my head..

I speculate that japica had good intentions to star, convincing themselves, that it ok yo shortchange a few investors to get a kickstarter and hope he could play nice with seemingly realistic promises.but when you hire your brother your girlfriend, a manager, an accountant and tell them you are gonna make a million dollars on kickstarter, the people you stepped on to get there get lost in the details of a poorly planned attempted corporation, with no rep air capitol.

I think the concept with 608 bearings is very promising and it's a good thing you reuploaded the files. I am currently upgrading my printrbot with the simpler Japica 608 Base and it really is much more solid than the lm8uu variants. If that file is missing too, I will also reupload it after my PB is working again.

m. friends of mine mentioned linear bearings would have been the better and more expensive choise. i will keep you up to date, buddy.
