This is a quick release lever that I designed for my filament drive ( http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7113 ). It may also be useful elsewhere.

Print the parts with support material on.
There is an STL with both of the parts in it if you want to print them both at once. If not, you only need support for the lever.

Remove the support material.

Put the pin through the lever.
Put a bolt through the pin and attach the bolt wherever it is supposed to go

I got this to print without any support. I hate printing on a raft, I always have trouble getting it off. If you rotate the piece it prints fine.

What support settings do you use? I have never used it. I would LOVE to on so many things.

Do you mean for this part? You shouldn't need support for this, I put it in the model.

For everything else, check out: http://www.makerbot.com/blog/2011/06/27/makerbot-microtip-using-the-support-features-in-skeinforges-raft-tool/http://www.makerbot.com/blog/2...

I used those settings and they worked pretty well.

The stl I downloaded had no support inbuilt... unlike the photo??

jag - in reply to jman

You are right. I thought I had added support but apparently I didn't. The support in the photo was generated by skeinforge.

Ahh. And without a raft. I can't get it to do that so far! Mmm, more thinking required.

By the way, this and thing 7113 are excellent.

this part does not have support designed in like your filament drive. I can't get support to be added in replicatorg. Sigh...

NVM, didn't realize i had to enable raft to print supports.

You are right though. I was sure I put support in the file...

Awesome idea! I wonder if it will be strong enough for my bike...

I hope your bike doesn't have a 4mm bolt securing anything important (like a wheel). You could maybe use it to secure a light or your phone...

that is a truly scary thought.... i would hate to be the person to test that out.
