Yes it does work, depending on what you want to do with it.

You will need a USB 2.0 Slim external DVD drive. They are a Chineese copy of an Apple drive and are available everywhere. You will need to remove it from it's case and tape it in to the jukebox.

To make a Desktop DVD/RW you need to desolder the usb cable so you can slide it through the hole and solder it back on.

To make speakers is pretty straight forward.

I'm having a lot of trouble making the stand alone CD player as these drives use far too much power for the Raspberry Pi, and I'm not prepared to spend $80 on a genuine Apple drive for this project, but if anyone else has any luck, please let me know.

The Desktop DVD/RW is probably the easiest thing to use this project for. It's great if you work in IT Support, media or any job where people may bring in DVD's. It's a real attention getter. :)

Cheers

Nice work, but does it really truley work?

Yikes Sorry! The files weren't all there!

This is my first upload to thingiverse so please be patient. Sorry about the confusion.

Okay I'll get on to them.

I don't have a Makerbot though - I'm not that wealthy, I have a daVinci (and a cartridge resetter and a cupboard full of HobbyKing filament!) I'm not sure if it will fit on the Makerbot print bed. This was done in ABS plastic and glued with acetone.

The acetone leaves white stains on the plastic which you clean off with GP Thinners. And then give it a light sand and finish with some floor polish and a shoe brush to give it that old 1930's laser cut press board radiogram look.

sorry for my impatience but please hurry with the instrucions ;)

Great idea! Love seeing stuff like this!
