Here are 4 containers and a lid constructed entirely from triangles.

They can serve as holders for paper clips, rubber bands, or other small stationery items.

Supplied are small, medium, large, and extra large containers. The lid fits the medium and large containers. The lid can also be used as a small tray.

Stl files are:

The openSCAD program that created the files is make_container.scad.

The boxes and lid print most rapidly if done directly on the build platform.

To create the boxes 36 small triangles were first assembled into a large triangle. Six of the large triangles were combined to make the hexagonal base and three were combined to form each side. While the openSCAD code is not fully parametric it contains instructions for making smaller and larger boxes.

I was wondering what Cura (or other slicing software) settings others have used to print this. I'm new to 3d printing but my printer is having a lot of trouble with the vertical diagonal lines of the triangles. I'm trying the small basket. The pictures of all the makes of this object look great so I must be missing something. Am using PLA. The diagonals all come out stringy and warped for me.

Now if only they were stack-able...

When I try to make the large one (large_hex_box.stl) slic3r will fail to output the gcode. Well actually it will output it but it takes 3-4 hours. No other prints have taken this long to convert. Then when printing it fails half way through. Is there anything I can do to fix this? BTW Cura will not work for me and my printer :( xyzprinting
