It is some sort of guide for flexible filament. I have seen this kind of modifications on plastic extruders.
So I designed it from scratch for the all metal extruder of my Geeetech I3a, it fits with no modification.

24/05/15 Major update :)
Two versions now.
The 4mm is intended to be used with tubing - see picture (It's polyurethan, I have ordered teflon) Didn't test it yet, but...
Tested the 2mm version with filaflex, it works perfectly!

mmh seems like a good design!

Printed in ABS. Some sanding to hole, and (more or less), it works. :)

I said "more or less" because, for some reason, sometimes the feeder stays clogged. I must press the lock lever to free mechanism and it solves the problem. Tried to sand, better but not perfect. Will try making hole biggger and inserting tube, like your other design (good idea).

Overall, thanks a lot for your design. Nice work.

how did you print in rubber I've tried and miserably FAILED pls help I'm printing in makerbot flex fill (1.75)

What fails? More précisely?
I'm Missing a lot of informations to try to help you....

  • I have made the part in abs. and you?
  • I have cleaned the entry and exit of the filament hole to ensure it passed through smoothly.
  • I also have changed the printing parameters, slow speed.

It doesn't fit other MK8 types, It doesn't have a hole for hot end pipe.

Yes, maybe.

And if you screw more the hotend of a mk8 geeetech (bad idea), it won't fit anymore.

Oh and by the way, it also doesn't fit on my toaster. :)
