I could not find a usable mechanical AND gate on the internet, so I decided to make one. It was important to me that the design was clockless and could actually work in the real world.

this is my first attempt. I hope to improve on this design. The current model generally works, but can stick from time to time. it also needs to be cycled for about 5-20 minutes to loosen up the parts after you first print it

Printed with replicator 2, 0.3mm PLA

I guess it would be useful if the STL's were correctly rotated.

I found that the STL's are also non-manifold in a few places, but this was easy to fix with blender.

I dont understand what you mean by non-manifold.

I will get the STLS rotated correctly for any future uploads, there will be an update to this in the future.

I used this guide to fix the STL's for use with slic3r:

after this, the parts sliced fine, and I printed it.. it worked quite well for a few minutes, but unfortunately after a while both parts holding the elastic broke off (I used ABS, 0.23 layer height, 0.6 extwidth). so some strengthening might be useful.

other remarks: the output part can move up and down a bit too much I feel. moreover, for visual effect it would be great if the output part could move a bit further out (it moves less than a mm right now I think), if that is possible.

I want to see how you building mechanical XOR :))))))))))))))

Now you just need a NAND gate to conquer the world with your steam-punk mechanical 3d printed computers :)

Hmm, it was only after staring at it that I realized how simple its operation actually is. The holes in the back definitely confused me.

Hmm, also, it might help when "reading" the design to print in two colors: One for the frame parts (back plate and cross-pins), and another for the moving parts (inputs, cylinder, and output).

yes, I will use some colors when i refine this a little
