What exactly does it do, and how do you use it. I mean I get that it has something to do with setting the z-axis hight but beyond that?

If you take a look at the file it was remixed from, you'll see that is a holder that prevents the vibrations of the printer from loosening the Z end stop setter. I love it barbecue I had this problem, before I installed it on mine.
