Would tinkercad be the best way to update the file if I want to adjust the inner diameter of this design to fit my 23mm wide OD garage door sensor?

Hi yashrg, sorry but I didn't see this until yesterday. I stopped using Sketchup a long time ago, and I would not recommend it. My favorite CAD tool now for 3D printing (and everything else, too!) is FreeCAD. It is 100% open source, free, and cross-platform (Windows, Mac, and Linux). You can download it from: http://freecadweb.org. I whipped up a new version with an inner diameter of 23mm, just like you need. I'll upload the STL and the FreeCAD file in just a minute. I hope you find it useful.

Thanks for getting back to me. I will take a look at it. I have tried my hands on tinkercad, openscad and meshmixer lately.

"Anyway, I have no idea if this will be useful to anyone but me, but here it is"

Absolutely useful to me! I have the same problem certain times of the year (and it even looks like the same sensor as mine- cobwebs and all). I'd swap the sender and receiver like Mudfoot suggested, but with the orientation of my house I'm pretty sure that would just mean I'd have the problem in the morning instead of the afternoon. Thanks for a great solution.

I'm in the Garage door business. Just reverse the photocells so that the sunlight will shine on the sender rather than the receiver and your problem is solved.

i had this problem and called my garage door installer, he said the same thing, 10 minutes to swap sides and no more problem.

My garage door opener gets temperamental with the evening sun, facing west as it is. I may try this out!

Yeah... Happens to us in the morning right about this time of year. Good idea.

My friend had this exact same problem a number of years ago. It took him a while to figure out what the problem was. It only happened once a year on certain days. He just ended up moving the sensor behind the wall.
