What is the diameter for the full 360 degree circle?

Very cool idea!

I'm just wondering about how sturdy the camera mount's upright is? How thick did you make that part?

it's 0.5x0.5 this maybe a bit thin, as i yet don't have the feel for the strength of printed plastic it was just a guess. Brining it up to 1x1 is trivial. It really depends on the weight of your camera.

I'm more concerned with stand/rail joint, it probably won't be able to keep the sand straight. I'm thinking of switching to two rail trolley for better stability.

Hey Anverx,

I love the toy-train-track inspired idea for a scanner rig! What did you use to develop the design? Could you also upload the original design files? One suggestion is to turn up the scale on your object or perhaps specify "metric" when outputting your STL's.

Great work!

I seem to have problems with the interface, at first i posted the thing without a name or description, then i was convinced i posted the openscad file, in any case the file is there now.

How can i set the output to metric? The only link in this design is the width of the slit for the camera screw, usually it's 5mm so i made it 0.5 so the rail circle radius becomes 1 meter. That should be good enough for most scanning projects.
