This is an excellent yaw mechanism design. It is very simple and compact as far as the parts go and fits together snug and strong. I love that the pivot screw threads right into the servo, I have not seen that before on a part like this. I also love that the motor mount connects directly to the servo, no push rods. This design allows maximum throw.

I have not flown the tricopter yet, I am still building it, but I hope it stands up to abuse as well as it seems it will.

A couple tips.

  • Lube the parts before assembly.
  • Use a servo tester to center the servo then slide the motor mount on.
  • Probably obvious to everyone else, but the servo connects to the motor mount via a modified servo horn. You can completely remove two of the arms from the 4 arm horn, leaving a V shape. Then trim the remaining arms. This will fit the small triangle on the motor mount. I glued and screwed mine to the motor mount.
  • Assemble in this order: bottom to frame, top to motor, top to servo, servo/top to bottom.

Glad you like it and hope you'll like the tricopter as well. I have only broken the legs so far despite lots of crashes.

Mind if I borrow the instructions?

I do not mind.

I like to use skids under the motors. I am using these:

The front two accept the motor mounting screws. The rear one holds captive locknuts for mounting the yaw mechanism.
