This is a spool mount for the Prusa Mendel to use with the Parametric Filament Spool. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8317

This spool mount only uses one piece of M8 thread (or SAE equivalent) and two M8 nuts. The M8 rod I had was a bit long but you can use a shorter piece. I would recommend a piece 20cm or longer.

  1. Print
  2. Slide the lower mount onto the top two threaded rods on your Prusa and tighten it on with two M8 nuts.
  3. Screw your piece of threaded rod into the lower mount. If it is hard to do by hand counter tighten two nuts on the thread so you can turn the thread with a wrench.
  4. Screw the upper spindle piece onto the threaded rod.
  5. Snap on the frame piece.

I tried to print the stl you uploaded, and it looks like the spoolSpindle and spoolMountFrame objects are 6mm off the bed, while the spindleMount is level. So I tried re-rendering from the scad file, and not only was this still the case but there was a block underneath the spoolSpindle, detached from it in the Z direction. Am I doing something wrong?

Ok, I just realized I was missing configuration.scad. Do you have a sample version of this file?

You need to get Libs.scad from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6021http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...

also, put this at the top of the file to get the proper holes in the spindle mount: m8_diameter = 8;

I don't think the parts are set up to print all at once, just comment out the parts and print them out individually (I'm about to do that myself).
