Summary

Two little tools to see if your Ultimaker XY guiding rods timing belts are correctly aligned according to the 'sliding blocks'
The optimum is that the timing belt of the X -rod has no Y component, so the 2 pullies and the 'sliding block' must be in the same Y-plane.
This should reduce mechanical stress in the system and gives a more balanced load for the belts/pulleys.
It can be difficult to see if the pulley is mounted straight above/below the rods.

The tool has a complexity/added value ratio of 1 (It can boost your Ultimaker performance with at least 0.000005%)

Instructions

Place the rounded tool over the X rod and see if the underlying belt is not touching the legs (4 times, each corner once).
Place the right-angled tool over the Y belts and see if the underlying rod is not touching the legs (4 times)

Two questions, if these are printed on a machine that might not be perfectly aligned, will they still be helpful? I used a spare block of wood and moved the head all the way one direction, measured one block length between that and the pully, then moved it all the way to the other and measured the same.

And, if it's off, how would one go about correcting it, just a matter of nudging the pullies?

I know its very late for a response, but this model helps diagnose the phantom "clicking" that one might hear while operating an Ultimaker.
Calibrating the position of the Gear Pulleys will quieten the machine and increase overall longevity, i found out the hard way after ignoring the clicking that it eventually destroyed the timing belt.

Every 0.000005% counts!! You know that with 8 pulleys it really starts to add up (a whopping 0.00004%!!) 8-)
