Summary

I was experiencing z-wobble with the existing coupler on the printrbot simple so I designed my own. I have yet to test it, but it should work. This is shorter than the original printrbot coupling, so should not interfere with y-axis motor.

Instructions

the tube used to make the flexible coupler on the Simple is taken off the screw and inserted into the smaller side of the coupler. The lead screw is then inserted into the other end. The whole coupler is secured using 4 M3 x 20 screws and 4 M3 nuts. In order for the extruder to come into contact with the bed, longer springs need to be used along with 4 M3 X 30 screws. If you don't have longer springs, simply print up some M3 spacers.

I've not had any problems with it hitting the Motor (Printrbot Simple current version): has the file been adjusted perchance?

I had originally designed this part for use with the Printrbot Simple V1 which I was beta testing. The reason why you had to jam paper into the coupler is because the V2 uses 1/4 inch acme instead of 5/16 inch threaded rod. I will make the necessary adjustments and upload a new version. If you notice any other problems just let me know.

Ah! So the slightly wider acme rod was preventing it closing all the way down onto the servo rod! I thought the PLA had just worn down a little tbh xD

Did you test this? The Y motor runs into the coupler before the extruder makes it all the way down to the platform, making me unable to print because I can't get the nozzle low enough. Am I doing something wrong?

unfortunately I haven't been able to test this yet because I first need to get rid of the drooping in my Y-axis, which is probably the reason why my measurement were wrong. If you can tell me how much shorter it needs to be I will be able to fix the file.
