Summary

I really liked the knob that owens made for the Z axis on the Printrbot Simple. When I downloaded his part, I discovered the hole didn't go all the way through, and the nut fit was very tight. So I created a new version that is just like his, but that fixes these two problems. I've also uploaded an IGES file for those with 3D CAD programs that can edit and modify such files.

Instructions

This fits over the Printrbot's 5/16 threaded rod. Use two 5/16 18 nuts (one on the bottom and one on the top) to hold this in place so you can use the knob to turn the threaded rod without slipping.

I recommend using Kisslicer with support material to slice this model. I've had problems with Slic3r on both this model, and also with owens' model.

I printed this using Slic3r and it worker out as downloaded. Just slowed everything down and increased to a 0.3 mm layer height. Thanks!

John, can you give me some hints on how to KISSlice this sucker? I have installed KISSlicer, but I've been using Slic3r this whole time. I'm also on the printrbot forums if you want to PM me there.

I've just added a ZIP file to the downloads that contains my current KISSlicer settings (which I've changed since I made the knob). Just copy them into the same location as the KISSlicer program.

What is the best settings in repetier (Slic3r), as whenever I try to slice it, it just slices a circle. Obviously doing something wrong haha.

I had to turn it upside down to get it sliced in Slic3r, which then requires support material on the outside. I find Slic3r's support material very hard to remove. I found Kisslicer did a much better job slicing this part.

Thanks John! I printed it, and it was AMAZING! Thanks again!

Will try to print this out tomorrow.
