Great Model! Very Nice... printer runs :)

Is there an instruction for the assembly?

Very nice model. However, I am not prepared to start such a big print job with no instructions. I have printed and assembled several models with wonderful instructions, and it makes things so much easier for those of us who are not serious model makers.

Hi Daniel, I'm currently printing this amazing model of yours but I'm wondering about something; when you fully fit the truck "turrets" in the chassis, the "turrets" will protude on top of the chassis. This means that the cabin, rear motor housing and front motor housing all are in the way of the truck "turrets" from being installed properly. On the model I'm printing I simply cut a hole in the model where the "turrets" are and printed the parts as so.

What I'm wondering about is how did you print yours? Am I right in doing this modification or I'm missing something entirely? Thanks for your time, help and wonderful talent!

Is there any way of making this battery powered?

what part holds the wheels together in the bogie assembly ?

First of all... Thanks!
What a ton of work to get this modeled up in Cad...

Would you be willing to add a couple of photos to your listing?

One or more of the bottom and one with a slightly offset view of the cab from that end would be great

Again, thank you for taking the time to do this project. It's awesome. Almost fully printed up.

Are there any assembly instructions with this? The upper portions look pretty straightforward but the underside looks like instructions would be helpful.

Can someone help me figure out what track size I would need if I scaled it down to 1:64? I know that S Gauge is 1:64 scale but is there different widths or will any ol' S Gauge track fit it? Sorry, I don't know much about model trains. Thanks in advance.

I assembled my train last night and now I'm planning my paint scheme! Beautiful model and a really fun print. Curious if anyone has worked on interior parts and also if there is a track section I could print that would work. Thanks!

I found a simple cab interior design on TinkerCad and modified it a little here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2613785

SW1500 Diesel Locomotive Cab

Could someone who has completed the assembly please measure the back to back distance for the truck wheels. I'm at the point where I can start assembly but done have any correctly guaged track to build the wheel sets on. Thanks, really like this model, have about 50 hours of printing in and maybe 25 or so left to do.

Calculate the precent and scale it down in your slicer

I am printing it now, and have finished the body and chassis. With only a minor adjustment to the width of the truck box it will fit nicely on G scale. it is like 1-2mm to wide to fit off the shelf LGB wheels. I will probably redesign the truck box to hold bearing and a motor, but if you just want a roller this looks great sitting on LGB track.

you only have to adjust a few files width to make it fit LGB

hope this helps, I couldnt get the answer to this so i printed it to find out!

Would you be able to upload the .step files for the parts? Those would be great for being able to model the train and modify it to have a functioning drive system on board. Thanks!

I will do that but for now you can download it at GrabCAD: https://grabcad.com/library/openrailway-emd-sw1500-1-32-locomotive-1

This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen on this website! Great job and keep up the good work! :D

Can someone rescale this to O gauge? Or at least help me to figure out how to..

Just rescale to 71 Percent with your slicer program or netfabb

71 Percent matches your 32mm track width

Awesome, printing right now for my garden RR, this locomotive I have been searching for a long time. You have completed an outstanding product for all of us to enjoy. Thank you.
Now, can we have a US American GENESIS passenger locomotive -- :-).

This is a very excellent model!! Could you Please tell me what software you used to create it? Did You Use ABS, PLA filament??
I am trying to Print it and am having a hard time. Temperatures and setting if you would please?

Thank You Again for an excellent model!! This engine is the reason I purchased a 3D printer!!

This is really nice. My Grandfather worked at the Willowsprings/LaGrange, Illinois EMD during those years and retired from designing and building them helping push out steam power. I grew up drawing them by hand and later having the EMD Scrapbook as reference but this is the ultimate way for the old models to live on. N scales availaible?

HI, EMD_1500_Front_Top_Cover and Front_Top_Fan_Cover seem to be slightly different versions of the same thing. Am I wrong? There seems to be two rear hoods that look pretty similar, not sure which to build. EMD_SW1500_front looks similar to Front_Chassie_Plate, as do their rear counterparts. Do I build both? Just one? Which one?

Thank you for posting the model. It looks great.

Very good work, nice to see something very realistic!

I found "netfabb" to be able to split the files easily.
Currently print all parts
Great project
Thank You

The side roof panels are missing for the cab. Do you think in the future that you could make the knuckler couplers for each end and maybe the interior controls to finish up this great model. This is a piece of art, thanks for the many hours on design. Everything is printing perfect, great job. Could you also make a pdf of the handrail layout so that we would have a pattern to bend the wire for the model. T. King

Looks good, i'm going to try and blow it up and print it at 1/29th
