my wife loves these curlers!

I used PLA, but i think it makes no difference.
PLA is less toxic and more environment friendly.
It has no problem with constant water contact.
After a few months the pipes are still the same, no degradation.

let the aquarium water with a pump run true and over the pipes, you can put them in an onion bag to keep them together so it's more easy to clean and handle. The holes in the pipes keep the water running without blocking the flow like filter-sponges do.

I'm finally getting around to making some of these. If I put a bunch inside my hang on the back filter, submerged, will bacteria still grow on them and break down ammonia and nitrites? I ask because the biowheel on my store bought filter rotates not submerged so I wonder if the bacteria need oxygen. Thanks.

in case my description wasn't clear, this is my filter: https://stevegong3d.wordpress.com/2015/07/26/aquarium-filter-modification/

Nice funny filter you got.
Put the filterpipes in to your filter, anaerobic and aerobic bacteria will grow in and on the pipes.
Let the water first pas the filter wool, not at the end, this is for catching tinny particles, but not necessarily.
After a while you have to replace the wool because it will block the inflow.

Great idea! Have you used it yet?
