I have a 10" cube build area. I wonder if it would be possible to get the design files so I can make a version that doesn't require the base and top to be in three pieces each.

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe you can accomplish all you desire with the STL files and Autodesk Meshmixer.

Sure, that's one way to do it but not as clean.
