This fan enclosure really works well. After several hours - the exruder motor is at room temp still. Now I can print PLA - never could get past an hour before because of the heat from the stepper softening the PLA causing the extruding to stop. Fits a 50mm fan x 10 or 15mm thick. Run it as an exhaust fan - pulling air over the stepper and out the top. There is a fan connection on the motherboard that works for this as well - get a 24vdc fan!
I am excited - I can print PLA now! If anyone knows how to reduce the fan speed for this fan port - please post it up? I plan to find automotive paint that matches my OLP and make it look factory. I hope this helps someone else too!
I printed mine in ABS. The flat cap was a bit of trouble due to the shrinkage of ABS - had to scale and re-print a few times. I might print better in PLA?
