Hey Everyone! Its only taken approximately forever but I finally finished my new direct drive bowden extruder aptly named the "Phantom Extruder" for its remarkable power despite its size and outward appearance. I wanted an extruder that was small and very easy to work on. I also wanted something that was easy to swap out filaments. This extruder does all of this. The MK8 drive gear provides lots of power making this perfect for bowden. If you have any questions or a request for a certain file type feel free to comment below! Thanks for looking!
Here is the link to the video about the extruder:
UPDATE 8/13/2015: New Direct Drive version with a mount added to the body (EXTRUDER BODY WITH MOUNT). You now no longer need a spacer or 35mm M3 Screws. You should be able to just use 30mm screws. Also added a Direct Drive version that has a mount for an extruder along with the clamp to hold it in (EXTRUDER HOTENDBODY and EXTRUDER HOTEND BODY-HOTEND CLAMP). Its specked for an E3D V6. Also uploaded STEP files so now you can customize everything to your liking!
To assemble this extruder you will need:
-EXTRUDER CLAMP PIVOT
-EXTRUDER IDLER BEARING
-EXTRUDER SPRING COMPRESSOR
-one of the extruder bodies
-2 M3X50 S.H.C.S
-3 M3X30 S.H.C.S
-2 M3 nylon lock nuts
-A length of 8mm rod (<20mm in length)
-1 688zz bearing
-MK8 Drive Gear
-1 Nema 17 Motor
Springs are also needed for the inside of the CLAMP piece. I do not have a source for those but they must be less that 20mm in free length and less than 9mm in diameter if you want to look for some.
